The Keep Moving podcast series will tell the story of Pekiwewin, an Indigenous-led houseless encampment in Edmonton’s river valley for 112 days in 2020, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, and housing and drug poisoning crises.

Edmonton’s houseless community—the majority of whom are Indigenous—continues to experience harm resulting from punitive government measures and insufficient support. This podcast series highlights how an Indigenous-led, volunteer grassroots community effort supported up to 400 houseless Edmontonians for over three months. The story of Pekiwewin reveals a reciprocal and sustainable form of community care that can be emulated in the future.
