APIRG firmly supports the People’s University for Palestine encampment. UAlberta’s People’s University for Palestine’s calls for the University of Alberta to:
- Disclose financial investments with Israel
- Divest from companies complicit in investment with Israel
- Defend the right to protest
- Declare a condemndation of the ongoing genocide of Palestinians
At APIRG we maintain anti-oppressive practices and advocate for social justice issues. We exist to provide students and community members with tools and support to be active citizens in our communities. We stand with students, academics, professors, organizers, and community members taking action in support of Palestinian liberation and against the apartheid state of Israel.
We call on the University of Alberta to meet the demands of the People’s University for Palestine. Across the globe, students have set up encampments on their school campuses calling for a ceasefire and demanding that their universities disclose and divest from investments with Israel.
We condemn any use of force or violence against students and community members exercising their right to protest.
